Fiona Morley

Fiona was born locally and brought up in Herefordshire.

She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1996 with a BA hons in Sculpture. She now lives and works in Brighton UK.

Fiona has exhibited widely in London and across the UK, Europeand New York. Her works have also been presented in many major international Art Fairs in London, Miami, Chicago, Paris, New York and Stockholm. Her work is held in collections worldwide.

Fiona’s unique style combines sculpture and drawing with wire. This lifts the drawn line off the page to create depth and 3 dimensional quality. She also combines her drawings in wire with emulsion paint and gold leaf.

Her work attempts to explore our humanity and psychology, our relationships with ourselves, loved ones and our community.
More recently and specifically she has been interested in the nature and movement of thoughts, how thoughts give rise to feelings of entrapment through fears and anxiety.  How we can get stuck in stories we think define us.  And ultimately the pursuit of freedom from these thoughts.
Within her imagery she uses symbols from the natural world, animal, bird, plant to represent aspects of our inner worlds and conflicts.

In recent years Fiona has taken a break from exhibiting to concentrate on raising her two young children, and taking time to develop and her work in studio.  She is beginning to exhibit again and delighted to be returning to Hay on Wye where her first ever exhibition was held.
