Karen Pearce

Statement

I draw and paint in a variety of media, looking for beauty and trying to create order out of what I see and feel.

Through drawing I begin to understand a subject’s structure; painting the light evokes feeling, and the imaginative (joyful, exciting!) processes of abstraction help sort out the composition’s key shapes.

I am currently very interested in making pictures about rock formations; rocks set against water, earth and skies; river rocks or sea rocks – the compositional and painterly opportunities abound. The landscapes and coastlines of Ceredigion provide much of my inspiration.
