Mike graduated from the Manchester College of Art and completed his post graduate studies at the Royal College of Art in London.
He established his reputation in film and television design in the 1970s and 1980s during which period he also undertook various painting commissions.
His work is exhibited in galleries around the country, including Bell Fine Art Winchester, Beaulieu Fine Arts, EDS Gallery Edinburgh and The Biscuit Factory Newcastle on Tyne. Plus his work is represented in private collections in Scotland, France, Los Angeles, New York, Germany, Portugal and the Home Counties
Artist Statement: I like to work with spaces that are not occupied and yet have the mark of a human presence. The half tones and shadows caused by evening and early morning light give me the opportunity to create the mood and atmosphere in my work. In my more recent paintings I have moved on to the overhead light of midday. Using this to create a dazzle of light on the roofs, a greater contrast of light and shadow adding a feeling of summer warmth.
