Pauline Rignall

I studied scientific illustration at Hornsey Art College and then later did a
fine art degree at Sheffield Hallam University. I taught Life drawing at the
Mappin Gallery and Museum in Sheffield where I ran experimental
workshops incorporating the Alexander technique and sound into the
creative process. I use intuition and the experience of the moment to
express the sensations of dream, memory, air and light. The act of
painting involves, large strokes, scrubbing away and scratching into the
surface allowing the image to reveal itself.
I presently show at, The Cupola gallery, Sheffield where in 2019 I had a
solo Arts Council Funded exhibition with a talk on the theme of ”Dream,
Myth and the Psyche.” I also have work at The Derwent Gallery in
Grindleford and Jarva gallery in Buxton. In June 2022, I received a
Derbyshire County Council award for a piece accepted into the
Derbyshire Open Exhibition at The Buxton Museum.
