Ceri Auckland Davies, born 1951, trained at Dyfed and Newport Colleges of Art. He now lives and works in Cardiff and is one of Wales' leading lights in egg tempera painting.
There is a wonderful luminescence to his egg tempera paintings that just isn't achievable with oils and watercolours. He first starts out by capturing the moods of his landscapes and seascapes by making small working sketches , later in the studio he develops these into large charcoals and paintings. He uses landscape, whether sea or land, as a reflection for what he's feeling in his work.
Ceri has exhibited regularly throughout the U.K. and internationally since 1993.The work of Ceri Auckland Davies is to be found in numerous public and private collections, including that of the Welsh Assembly and the National Library of Wales for their permanent collection.
